Collection: Lucy Kent

Lucy Kent is a British painter working primarily in oil, whose practice centres on capturing the changing qualities of light within the landscape.

Based in Wiltshire, Kent paints both en plein air and from her studio, often travelling extensively to work directly within the environments she depicts. Her smaller on-site studies inform larger studio pieces, creating a body of work that feels immediate yet considered.

Her paintings are driven by a strong response to atmosphere, particularly moments of dramatic light at sunrise and sunset. Using a combination of brush and palette knife, she builds textured, energetic surfaces that convey both the physical presence of the landscape and the experience of being within it.

While her work remains rooted in representation, areas of abstraction emerge through the material handling of paint, giving each piece a sense of movement and vitality.

Kent’s work continues to explore the relationship between light, place and the act of painting itself.
