Paul Vanstone

Paul Vanstone is a British sculptor known for his carved stone works that explore movement, balance and the natural world. Working primarily in marble and stone, Vanstone allows the material itself to guide the development of each piece. His practice is rooted in the physical process of carving, gradually transforming solid blocks into fluid, organic forms that often echo the curvature of the human body and the movement of draped fabric.After studying at Central Saint Martins and completing an MFA at the Royal College of Art, Vanstone worked in traditional marble carving studios in Italy, before continuing his training in Berlin and Rajasthan. He later spent five years as an assistant to Anish Kapoor, contributing to works exhibited at major international institutions including Tate Modern.

Vanstone has since exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, including at the British Museum, the V&A and the Saatchi Gallery, as well as major art fairs and sculpture parks.His work continues to explore the relationship between weight and lightness, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through stone.
