Collection: Nicholas Winter
Fragility sits at the core of Nicholas Winter’s image-making practice — a central thread that runs through his work. His photographs explore the fragility of lived experience, not always as something immediately visible, but as a presence embedded within the themes of each image.
Winter understands fragility as a constant space: a space between reality and what might be. His work looks beneath the surface, beyond the first layer of what is seen, towards what is often overlooked or left unconsidered. Through a process rooted in subtlety, his images seek to reveal what exists within this in-between zone.
In contrast to solidity or hardness, fragility is brittle and impermanent. Within this state lies the potential for heightened awareness — of vulnerability, of transience, and of the fleeting nature of existence. Winter’s visual practice is driven by the desire to create space for this fragility to be felt more clearly.
